چکیده

Early adolescence is a time of major social change; strong sense belonging and peer connectedness an essential protective factor in mental health during that period. In this paper we introduce LINA, augmented reality (AR) smartphone-based serious game played school by entire class (age 10+) together with their teacher, which aims to facilitate improve interaction, climate, while creating safe space reflect on external stressors related family circumstance. LINA was developed through interdisciplinary collaboration involving playwright, software developers, psychologists, artists, via iterative co-development process young people. A prototype has been evaluated quantitatively for usability qualitatively efficacy study 91 early adolescents (agemean=11.41). Results from the Game User Experience Satisfaction Scale (GUESS-18) data qualitative focus groups showed high acceptability preliminary game. Using AR, shared immersive narrative collaborative gameplay physical offers opportunity harness adolescent affinity digital technology towards improving real-world connection belonging.

Sense of belonging: a vital mental health concept.

Sense of belonging is a concept that has not been researched in psychiatric nursing practice. Using a concept-analysis strategy proposed by Walker and Avant, the authors present a detailed description of the concept that evolved from a series of inductive and deductive strategies. Sense of belonging is defined as the experience of personal involvement in a system or environment so that persons ...

Annotating Real-World Objects Using Augmented Reality

We describe a system for annotating real-world objects using augmented reality. A virtual form (model) of a real-world object is matched to the real object, allowing one to visually annotate the real components with information from the corresponding model. Augmented reality provides a natural method for presenting the “enhancing” computer-based information by merging graphics with a view of th...

Player Control in a Real-Time Mobile Augmented Reality Game

Controlling virtual characters in AR games for modern smartphones is even more challenging than controls for ‘pure’ VR games because the player has to keep the AR world in view. We propose six interaction concepts based on combinations of both physical and virtual buttons and sensor input and suggest an evaluation according to game experience criteria.

Real-time Planar World Modeling for Augmented Reality

We posit that the challenge of complete visual modeling and tracking of the outdoor urban world can be made tractable by using the simplifying assumption of textured planar surfaces. While recent methods have demonstrated dense and complex reconstructions in some cases, we advocate simpler models which more efficiently and effectively capture the semantic structure of the scene. We argue that t...
